Baston, Lincolnshire

A new, modern extension with sweeping garden views from bi-fold doors, called for a garden design with layers of interest that were just as effective from inside the house as outside.

A large terrace, stretching the width of the house, had already been created. The design needed to incorporate this seamlessly and provide multiple routes around the garden. To one side, a formal brick paver pathway now hugs the lawn and leads down to a smaller terrace that catches the evening sun. On the other side, a gravel garden area counterbalances the linear shapes and creates a space where the boundaries between planting and pathways are more blurred.

Oak archways around the smaller terrace add height and structure. They also create an intimate space, that feels tucked away from the house.

From the homeowners…

“Nicola offers a very professional but personal service. She made the process enjoyable and easy to understand for gardening novices. Nothing was too much trouble… We are totally delighted with the garden she has created for us and everyone that has seen it has said it looks amazing. We are really looking forward to seeing it grow and develop.”
